If you have a AAA Destination Discovery account, simply enter your e-mail address and password in the listed fields and select the Log In button.

Create Account

Creating an account with AAA Destination Discovery is quick and easy.Simply provide your email address and a password and we'll automatically create an account for you to save your travel profiles for future reference.

AAA Destination Discovery asks that you create an account so that AAA Destination Discovery can save the Trip Profiles you create for your future access and reference whenever you log in to AAA Destination Discovery.

Edit Account

You can change the information associated with your AAA Destination Discovery account on this screen. Simply enter your new information in the appropriate field and select the Save Changes button.

Forgot Password

It's easy to request your AAA Destination Discovery password. Simply enter your e-mail address in the listed field and select the Retrieve Password button. We'll e-mail the password associated with this e-mail address to that e-mail address immediately.

Password Sent

Once you enter an e-mail address associated with an account in the AAA Destination Discovery system, you'll receive confirmation that the password was e-mailed to that e-mail address. Simply check your e-mail and you'll have quick access to your password to access AAA Destination Discovery immediately.

Your Trip Profiles

Your Trip Profiles Page is your personal page within AAA Destination Discovery where you can view and manage all your Trip Profiles. The page has four main sections:
1. Announcements. AAA Destination Discovery will notify you of any updates about your group profiles in this section. You'll also see any system notices on this page.
2. Personal Trip Profiles. This section lists your personal Trip Profiles and allows you to create additional personal profiles from this section. A personal Trip Profile is a Trip Profile you create that is specific to your own travel preferences. You can view/edit or see the map results for your existing personal profiles here.
3. Group Trip Profiles. This section lists the group profiles with which you are associated. A group profile is a profile that combines the personal profiles of up to ten other individuals into a joint profile that helps you find destinations that best meet all your personal preferences and priorities. You can initiate a new group profile in this section and manage the group profiles that you have initiated. For the group profiles that you are linked to, you can check the status, view other member's profiles and see results for completed profiles
4. Your Account. This is the section to view and/or edit your AAA Destination Discovery account information such as password and home airport.

Create Your Trip Profile

To create your personal Trip Profile, select and rank up to 10 interests that you would like to include in your vacation.

Step 1: Select Your Interests, click on up to 10 interests for your trip. You may also select to start from one of our pre-set vacations by clicking on the vacation name at the top of the Interests box. The interests you select will automatically be populated in your profile display in Step 2: Complete Your Profile.

We have asked you to limit your selections to a maximum of ten interests to better prioritize and focus your destination recommendations. You do not need to select all 10 interests. Each interest may only be selected one time. You may remove an interest from your profile display by clicking on the interest again.

Step 2: Complete Your Profile. Once you have chosen the interests for your travel profile, confirm that they are listed in your profile in the order of importance to you (#1 being the most important interest for the trip down to #10 as the least important). You can reorder the interest by clicking and dragging the interests within the travel profile.

To save this trip profile for future reference, select the appropriate checkbox. You will be asked to enter your e-mail address and a password. Entering this information automatically creates a AAA Destination Discovery account for your future visits to AAA Destination Discovery. Of course, you don't need to create an account to see trip recommendations for this trip profile. However, once you leave AAA Destination Discovery without saving this profile to an account, you will need to go through the profile creation process again to re-create your recommendations.

Destination Matching Engine Results


How does the matching engine work?


AAA Destination Discovery's team of travel experts have rated each of the destinations in our database along the same interests and activities that you use when creating your personal profile. They have rated each of the available interests and activities for the destination along categories rating from "world class" to "available". These profiles are matched with your prioritized profile through a proprietary matching algorithm to create a personalized destination recommendation list that is unique to you.

Your profile name and ranked interests are displayed at the top of the page. You can choose to edit this profile by selecting the Edit Profile text link or, if you're not logged in to AAA Destination Discovery, save the profile by selecting the Save Profile text link.

If you are currently a AAA Destination Discovery member, selecting the Save Profile text link will take you to the login process where your profile results will now be saved after you log in. If you are not currently a AAA Destination Discovery member, you will be prompted to create a AAA Destination Discovery account so that you can save this profile for future reference.

Destination Recommendations

Your destination recommendations are displayed in two formats:
1. List Results. The top 50 destinations that match your profile are listed, in order of best match on the left. An excerpt of the expert summary for this destination is also displayed. To view the specific guide for this destination, simply click on the name of the destination. To view it's location on a world map, mouseover the destination and a pop-up window will highlight the location.
2. Map Results. The top 50 destinations are displayed, by pin, on a world map to give you an idea of where your top 50 destinations are located geographically. When you mouse over a pin, the name of the destination, the activities at that destination that match your profile, and a thumbnail image of the destinations are displayed. You can view the specific guide for this destination by clicking on the name of the destination.

What are the filter options?

We know that there may be a large number of destinations returned that match your Trip Profile. To help you narrow down the destination results to begin your exploration we offer a few advanced filter options:
1. Show Trips by World Region. You can choose to only view those destinations that meet your requirements in a specific world region. Simply select the world region that you're interested in through the pull-down menu and we'll show you only those destinations in that world region.
2. Advanced Options. This allows you to Filter Destinations by your interests. If there is a specific interest/activity that "must" be available at a destination; you can use the check box to indicate that. Only the destinations that include that interest/activity will be displayed.

Delete Trip Profile

You may remove any of your personal profiles by selecting the Delete button at the bottom of the page for the associated profile. Once a profile is deleted you will not have access to the destination match results that were associated with that profile.

Create New Group Profile

You initiate and create a group profile on this screen. As the group initiator you will be responsible for managing specific aspects of the group profile, including:
1. Naming the Group Profile
2. Inviting up to nine other individuals to join the group profile. For each of the individuals you invite you will need to enter their first and last name and e-mail address.

You may also select the "special offer" check box when you create the account. If you select this box then AAA Destination Discovery will e-mail all the members of your group profile when any travel deals or offers become available which would be of specific interest to your group profile.

Group Profile Invitation E-mails

After you have listed the individuals you want to invite, AAA Destination Discovery will create and send e-mails inviting each of the people you list to join your group profile. You may customize the text with personal text in the area provided.

Once you complete this customization, AAA Destination Discovery will automatically e-mail these invitation e-mails, on your behalf, to your invitees. This starts the easy process of creating a group profile! You can monitor the status of your group profile from the Your Trip Profiles screen and when all your invitees have linked profiles, you will be notified that your group destination match results are available. If any invitation e-mail cannot be delivered, you will also be notified of that.

You will be shown a preview of the invitation e-mail that will be e-mailed to your group members after you enter your personal text.

Once your invitation e-mails have been sent to your invitees you will see a confirmation screen re-listing the names of your invited members

Link to Group Profile

When you are invited to join a group profile, you can link one of your existing personal profiles to the group profile from this screen. Simply select one of your existing personal profiles from the pull-down menu displayed under your name and select the Link Selected Profile button. You can also view the names and linked profiles of the other personals that are part of this group profile.

If you would like to send a personal e-mail to any of the members of this group profile, simply select the E-mail icon associated with each name.

View/Edit Group Profile

After you have linked a personal profile to a group profile you can always return to view the status of the group at this page. You may also choose to edit or modify the personal profile that is currently linked to the group profile with the appropriate fields.

Manage Group Profile

After you have created a group profile you can always view and/or edit that profile on this screen. At one glance you will see which invitees have linked profile, which are pending, and if any of the invitation e-mails were undeliverable.

Once an individual has linked their profile to the group profile you cannot delete them from the group profile. However, if an individual has not yet linked their personal profile, you may remove them from the group or you may choose to indicate that the group results may be finalized without their input. If those individuals do link their profiles at a later date, they will then be factored in to the group profile at that point.

If you choose to delete a group profile, you may also to so from this screen.

Selecting the "special offers e-mail" checkbox will allow AAA Destination Discovery to notify you and all the group members of any special deals that would be relevant to your group Trip Profile.

View Final Group Profile

Once all the required individuals have linked profiles to the group profile, the AAA Destination Discovery generated group profile can be viewed at this screen. All the personal profiles that were combined to create the group profile will also be available for viewing here as well.

After a group profile is created and the results are viewed, individual members will have the option to modify their linked profile to see how the group results may change. The individual will have the option to save this modified group profile for sharing with the larger group. If they choose to do so, then the new results will be saved as an iteration of the original group results for all group members to view.

How is the group profile created?

AAA Destination Discovery uses a proprietary algorithm to survey all the personal profiles to create a group profile. This algorithm factors both the frequency of an interest/activity amongst all the personal profiles and the priority ranking of each of those interests/activities to create one group profile that is then run through the AAA Destination Discovery Destination Matching Engine.
